HR Audits can be undertaken in response to challenging employee relations situations or as is becoming increasingly more common proactively to ensure that your School or Academy’s internal HR practices are supportive of your vision and culture. As well as identifying gaps in HR practices or procedures that are causing issues or have the potential to cause problems.

An HR Audit can be focused on one particular areas of HR, or include all of your HR practices and procedures.

A policy and procedure review – ranging from ensuring you have the key policies in place, with appropriate review and governance and that they are reviewed and maintained in accordance with your policy schedule, to an in-depth review of each policy and procedure to ensure that these are legislatively compliant and in accordance with best practice, including forthcoming legislative changes.
A review of your administrative procedures, including contracts, template letters, and a review of employee files, ranging from a sample of files to a full review of every employee file. This aspect of the audit will determine if the contents of your employee files are maintained and held in accordance with your retention schedule, legislation and best practice. Guidance will also be provided on the content of contracts, as well as the quality and compliance of written documents.
A review of recruitment, and onboarding policies and procedures, with specific regard to the requirements of KCSIE, your single central record and right to work checks.
Key employee metrics, and data analytics, including a review of absence, turnover, disciplinaries and grievances. Designed to support you in obtaining, measuring and analysing your employee data to support the creation and implementation of robust and meaningful People Strategies and plans.
A review of performance management and annual appraisal policies and procedures, to ensure internal compliance as well as STPCD. Ranging from a sample review to shadowing of a pay review cycle and performance management discussions.
A review of your pay and reward strategy alongside your performance management cycle or as a separate matter to support the development of a bespoke fair and competitive reward strategy.

 

Our HR Audit specialists will work in partnership with you during the audit process, providing regular feedback and recommendations to ensure focus is placed on the areas that will provide you with the most appropriate and meaningful information, as well as the creation of a bespoke audit report with RAG rated recommendations and a SWOT analysis is required.
