Why HR Connect Celebrates National Payroll Week
And why being a member of CIPP matters...

By Nicola Hirshfield MCIPP., HR Director, HR Connect
As HR professionals, we know that payroll is far more than just numbers on a payslip, it’s about trust, compliance, and the financial wellbeing of every employee. That’s why being a member of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) is so important to me and to our team at HR Connect.
CIPP membership is a mark of professional excellence. It connects us to a community of experts, keeps us up to date with ever-changing legislation, and ensures we’re always operating to the highest standards. It’s not just about technical knowledge, it’s about being part of a profession that underpins the success of every organisation.
That’s also why National Payroll Week is such a valuable moment in the calendar. It’s our chance to:
- Celebrate the people behind the payslips — the payroll professionals who work tirelessly to get it right, every time.
- Educate and engage our colleagues about the value and complexity of payroll.
- Showcase our expertise and the role we play in supporting employee wellbeing and organisational success.
At HR Connect, we’re proud to be part of this profession. We’re not just here to process pay and pensions, we’re here to support people, solve problems, and make sure everyone feels confident and cared for when it comes to their pay.
At HR Connect, we believe payroll is more than just a process, it’s a promise. A promise that your people will be paid accurately, on time, and with care. That’s why organisations choose us.
Because We Care
We know that behind every payslip is a person, someone relying on us to get it right. That’s why we treat every payroll run with the same care and attention we’d expect for ourselves. We’re not just ticking boxes, we’re building trust.
Because We’re Experts
Our team is CIPP-qualified, detail-driven, and always up to date with the latest legislation. From PAYE to pensions, RTI to holiday pay, we’ve got it covered, so you don’t have to worry.
Because We’re People First
We’re approachable, responsive, and genuinely passionate about what we do. Whether it’s answering a query, solving a complex issue, or supporting your team through change, we’re here to help , with a smile.
Because We Add Value
We don’t just process payroll, we improve it. We streamline processes, help you stay compliant, and give your employees confidence in their pay. That’s the HR Connect difference.
So this week, we’re celebrating payroll, and the people who make it happen - read stories from our team about why payroll matters to them.

I chose a career in payroll because I’ve always believed that getting pay right is one of the most important ways an organisation shows it values its people. It’s not just about numbers, it’s about trust, accuracy, and making sure every individual feels secure and respected.
What I love about payroll is that it sits at the heart of everything. It connects people, policy, and process. It’s fast-paced, ever-changing, and deeply rewarding. Every payslip we issue is a reflection of someone’s hard work, and I take pride in making sure that recognition is delivered correctly and on time.
For our customers, this means confidence. It means knowing they have a partner who understands the complexity of payroll legislation, who’s proactive about compliance, and who genuinely cares about getting it right. We’re not just a service, we’re a team of people who care about your people.
That’s why I’m proud to be part of HR Connect, and proud to celebrate National Payroll Week, because payroll deserves to be recognised for the vital role it plays in every organisation.
Being named CSG’s Employee of the Year this year, is an incredible honour, but for me, it’s also a reflection of the work we do in payroll that often goes unseen but is absolutely essential.
I’ve always believed that payroll is one of the most important services any organisation provides. It’s not just about processing numbers, it’s about making sure people are paid accurately, on time, and with complete transparency. It’s about trust. When payroll runs smoothly, people can focus on their work, their families, and their lives, and that’s a responsibility I take seriously every single day.
What drives me is knowing that our work directly impacts people’s wellbeing. Whether it’s helping someone understand their payslip, resolving a query quickly, or ensuring compliance with ever-changing legislation, payroll is where precision meets people.
For our customers, this means peace of mind. It means knowing they have a partner who is not only technically skilled but genuinely cares. That’s what I bring to my role, and what I’m proud to bring to every customer we support.
