Why the Kent Education Awards are important

HR Connect and Kent Teach are proud sponsors of the Kent Education Awards 2026 as they recognise the people across our beautiful county who make education extraordinary and spotlight not only exceptional teachers but also the classroom assistants, pastoral teams, office staff, caretakers, and volunteers who keep schools thriving.

It was an honour for HR Connect’s, Rebecca Blackmore, Head of Sales and Jon Raeside, Head of Marketing, to present this year’s winners with their well-deserved trophies at a gala ceremony held at the Ashford International Hotel on Friday 15th May.

The Kent Education Awards are a celebration of the teachers, support staff, and volunteers who shape the lives of children and young people across Kent and Medway.

This year, we sponsored the following Kent Education Awards:

HR CONNECT KEA

HR Connect - Headteacher of the Year Award – winner, Mr Peter Hygate, Stowting School

The judges comments:

“Mr Hygate is an exceptional school leader who enables outstanding education for all pupils while fostering a strong, inclusive community where every child’s talents and interests are celebrated. He goes above an beyond in supporting pupils’ achievement and personal development – from ensuring strong academic progress to creating enrichment opportunities such as nature areas, spiritual gardens, sports clubs and competitions. His dedication is reflected in the positive school culture he has built, the strong relationships he maintains with pupils and families, and the consistently high levels of care, attention and leadership across the school.”

KENT TEACH KEA

Kent Teach - Team of the Year Award – winners, EKC Schools Trust

The judges comments:

“This team is transforming education on the Isle of Sheppey by consistently living out their values of aspiration, resilience and kindness in their daily work with students, families and each other. They take a holistic approach to supporting every child, combining a strong curriculum with nurturing relationships and personalised support so that all students feel valued and able to succeed. In under 18 months they have built a highly effective, united team dedicated to improving life chances and outcomes for young people, reflecting exceptional commitment, passion and impact.”

These were only a few of the Awards being presented. Huge congratulations to all this year’s regional and overall winners! It was an amazing evening and a true celebration of excellence in schools across Kent.
